However, some people find it difficult to make websites of JoS material. If you think you cannot do it at all, you can simply make a PDF instead, however, a website would reach a much larger audience.
First off, I do not recommend to use of website makers such as weebly, or wix. Any anti-islamic or anti-jewish material and they get shut down. This has happened to me and it was a pain in the ass.
I highly recommend the use of other hosts that have manual website makers, as in, you make the HTML code yourself, such as angelfire.com.
So to begin the guide. You will need the following programs:
- Microsoft Notepad: available on all PCs with Windows. You can use the mac equivalent of this.
Notepad++ colour codes text, adds matching html tags together etc. It is extremely handy and I use it for other coding stuff as well as HTML.
Downloading the HTML file of the English page you wish to translate. :
1. Right Click
2. Scroll down to Save As and click
3. Save as HTML WEBPAGE ONLY to your desired location
Opening the HTML.
1. Go to where you downloaded the html.
2. Right click and press edit in notepead++
Now you will be greeted by the HTmL code of the page, it may look scary, but it is really easy to use. It looks like this
Editing and translating the HTML. This is where it gets slightly trickier, but it is still easy.
1. Where ever you see Engish text IN BLACK ONLY, translate it into your language.
DO NOT TRANSLATE THINGS LIKE THIS:
<body bgcolor="#000000" text="#c0c0c0" link="#ffffff" alink="#FF0000"vlink="#8b31c7">
<P> <P> <center><font face="Verdana,Arial" size=5>
Do NOT delete anything that look similar to the above. ONLY THE THINGS THAT ARE IN BLACK SHOULD BE TRANSLATED.
This will always appear in black: - They are spacers, leave them as they are.
2. Say you want to put a link to some thing or edit an existing, you do it like this
<a href="YOUR EXACT URL GOES HERE">THE TEXT YOU WANT TO APPEAR GOES HERE</a>
When you are done your edits, press save in Notepad++. Then go to where your HTML file is saved, then right click on it, select open with, google chrome and check everything is correct.
Uploading your file
Firstly, make sure you have named you HTML file correctly.
Now upload both your index/homepage and the other files from the menu listings on you home page.
Then, get the url of the HTML files, and add it to your homepage, like so.
<a href="URL OF FILE">NAME OF ARTICLE</a>
I will answer any questions anyone has.
